Over 15 years of experience within the legal profession, now devoted full-time to helping parties resolve disputes without the cost and unpredictability of trial.
April is a native-born Floridian and a Navy veteran. Her legal career began as a paralegal for a social security disability firm, where she first learned how the law can either help or fail the people who depend on it. She went on to earn her Bachelor's in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida, followed by her Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
Before turning to mediation, April spent her career on both sides of the courtroom. She began as a prosecutor, trying cases and negotiating resolutions on behalf of the State, where she learned early on how much is lost — in time, money, and peace of mind — when a dispute cannot be resolved short of trial.
She went on to work as a criminal defense attorney, representing clients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. That experience sharpened her ability to listen closely, find leverage in a difficult position, and communicate hard truths in a way people can actually hear.
April's practice later expanded into civil litigation. It was there that she began focusing on third-party global settlement conferences — coordinating resolution across multiple parties, claims, and carriers in a single, structured process.
That specialty is now the core of her mediation practice. April brings the same preparation and case command she used as a trial attorney to every mediation she runs, and pairs it with the patience and neutrality the role demands.
Clients and opposing counsel alike return to April because she does the homework other mediators skip. She reads the file, understands the exposure on both sides, and comes to the table ready to move the conversation forward — not just referee it. That reputation has made her a favorite among both her clients and the attorneys who appear opposite her.
Florida Supreme Court Certified MediatorEvery mediation is different, but April's approach stays consistent: thorough preparation, clear-eyed assessment of risk, and a genuine commitment to helping both sides find a resolution they can live with.
